Williamson County History:Williamson County is rich with a deep vibrant history dating back to 1799 when the city of Franklin was founded and named after Benjamin Franklin whose close friend was Dr. Hugh Williamson, a member of the Continental Congress and after whom Williamson County was officially named. During the Civil War, 8000 soldiers died at the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864 turning virtually every home into a hospital.
